Brazilian Pastel Recipe with Beef Filling

Utensils needed:

  • 2 cups All Purpose Flour
  • 1 Egg, yolk only
  • 2 Tablespoons Butter, softened ((I used salted, but unsalted is fine too))
  • 1/3 cup Water, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 lb Ground Beef ((I used 90% Lean))
  • 1 teaspoon Olive Oil
  • 2 Cloves Garlic, minced ((or 2 teaspoon garlic powder))
  • 2 Scallions, sliced thin
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh Cilantro, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Chili Powder
  • 1 tablespoon Cumin Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt (or to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon Ground black pepper
  • Water to help seal the pastel edges
  • Oil for frying ((I used Soybean Oil))
