Apple Breton Cake

- 250 g butter (softened)

- 1 tsp natural vanilla essence
- 1 tbsp iced water
- 4 egg yolks

- 1 egg yolk for glaze
- 8 - 10 regular apples (depending on size, peeled, cored and sliced)
- 1 cup sugar
